on March 30th, 2010I didn’t notice the snow on the mountains until I read the tags on the post! Sweet “fire & ice” pics
Can I ask what kind of tripod you use for these long exposures? Do you find it’s critical to use a really beefy set of legs and head, or do you get by fine with something more lightweight and portable?

on March 31st, 2010Chris, you definitely want something sturdy for longer exposures like this, but that doesn’t mean it has to be heavy. For years I lugged around a heavy Manfrotto aluminum tripod and eventually went carbon fiber to address the weight. I didn’t lose any stability and I’m much happier on longer treks with my pod. Thanks for the comment.
